The Indian Premier League, also known as the IPL, is a professional cricket league in India that was founded in 2008 by the Board of Control of Cricket in India. It is the most watched cricket league in the world. The IPL is an annual tournament held in India, and IPL 2023 will be the 16th edition, with ten teams competing. The IPL 2023 will be played in the traditional “home and away” format.

The IPL 2023 season begins at the end of March, with the first match taking place as early as March 31 between Gujarat Titans, who finished first in the 2022 tournament, and Chennai Super Kings, who are four-time champions and IPL 2021 winners. The first match will be played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the home city of the Gujarat Titans.

The TATA IPL 2023 Player Auction was held on December 23, a week later than planned, in Kochi. Approximately 80 players were sold in the auction, with a total of 1,67,00,00,00Ы0INR spent. All-rounders were in high demand at the auction, and English all-rounder Sam Curran broke the record to become the most expensive player in IPL history, having been purchased for INR 18.50 crore.

Sam Curran is followed by players such as Cameron Green, who was signed for INR 17.50 crore by the Mumbai Indians, and Ben Stokes, who was signed for INR 16.25 crore by the Chennai Super Kings.

Thus, a total of 1,25,05,00,000INR was spent on foreign players and 41,95,00,000INR on Indian players.
