Royal Challengers Bangalore History
Let’s go over the Royal Challengers Bangalore team’s history for each season of the IPL individually. Let’s look at each one separately.
2008: Rahul Dravid has been dubbed the face of RCB. Captain of the India Under-19 team, Virat Kohli joined the RCB group. With only 4 victories from the 14 games, the club placed seventh in the standings.
2009: The team paid a high price to acquire Kevin Pietersen. Only two of RCB’s first six games were victories. The team fell by six runs to the Deccan Chargers in the championship game.
2010: The RCB team finished the regular season with 14 points after winning 4 of their 14 games. The RCB squad lost to the MI team but still advanced to the semifinals thanks to a higher net run rate than the KKR and Delhi Daredevils teams. The challengers advanced to the CLT-20 semifinals as well.
2011: Before the auction, RCB just kept Virat Kohli and released every other player. Chris Gayle’s century for the team proved to be a terrific addition to the squad.
The RCB team reached the finals once more but fell to Chennai Super Kings.
2012: The starting lineup of AB de Villiers and Muttiah Muralitharan was excellent for the team. The RCB squad came in fifth place overall.
2013: The group got off to a good start, winning their first six games. The club began dropping games away from home, though and placed fifth in the standings.
2014: The RCB’s new captain is Virat Kohli. RCB had a poor season. The squad placed seventh in the standings but didn’t even make the playoffs.
2015: The Challengers got off to a winning start at home. Chris Gayle did well for the team as usual. The squad fell to CSK teams in the second qualifying round and finished third in the standings.
2016: The RCB’s chairman and logo were both replaced. As usual, the club won their first game before going on a losing skid. The squad came in second place overall.
2017: The season began with big-name Royal Challengers Bangalore players suffering injuries. The team set a record for the fewest runs ever, 49, which has yet to be surpassed by another team. The RCB team came in eighth place overall.
2018: At the point table, Royal Challengers came in sixth place.
2019: Another depressing year, with RCB coming in last on the points standings.
2020: The RCB team was defeated by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the elimination round.
2021: The latest addition to the team, Glenn Maxwell, is demonstrating that it was a perfect choice. The RCB team came in third place out of eight after losing to Kolkata Knight Riders by 4 wickets in the playoffs.
2022: Three years in a row, Royal Challengers Bangalore made it to the playoffs but were unsuccessful in winning the IPL 2022. In the 73rd game, RCB was defeated by Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Best Players
- Virat Kohli. Virat Kohli is one of the best cricket players in history, and he has been with the Royal Challengers for the whole time they have been around. He was the captain of this team for ten years, from 2011 to 2021, but he recently quit to focus more on his game. In 2016, RCB had its best IPL season ever. They were unbeatable and made it to the final, but SRH beat them in 2016 as well. During that season, Virat Kohli was at the top of his game and won many games on his own. He is still the player with the most runs scored in a single season (973 runs, 4 centuries).
- AB de Villiers. Ab de Villiers is one of the more experienced players on the RCB team. His unusual cricket shots have earned him the nickname “Mr. 360.” Ab De Villiers gives the team’s batting order a lot of power, and he has kept them safe in many dangerous situations. He is the kind of player who can beat any bowler and, in some cases, even work with other players to win. With Virat Kohli, he has two partnerships of 200 or more and five partnerships of 100 or more. Only this pair has ever done it in the whole history of cricket. ABD played one last season for RCB in 2021 before saying he was done with all sports.
- Yuzvendra Chahal. Chahal is a great leg spinner who is known for being very skilled in the bowl. From 2014 to 2021, he was a permanent leg spinner for team India in limited overs cricket for the Royal Challengers Bangalore team. He was the best bowler for the RCB team, and he is now with the Rajasthan Royals. He has played in 83 games and taken 100 wickets, which gives him an average of 22.8.
- Devdutt Padikkal. In 2020, RCB found and bought a new Indian gem named Devdutt Padikal. RCB gave this young man a chance because they thought he could do well. He now plays for Rajasthan Royals, but because of the mega auction, RCB had to let him go. Devdutt Padikkal played for RCB for two years, in 2020 and 2021. He played in 29 games and had 884 runs, including 6 runs of 50 or more, and a century. He ended up getting the most runs for RCB for the sixth time.
